Employment Opportunity - SUPERVISOR - ACCOUNTING

The City of Camrose is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Financial Services team as the Supervisor - Accounting. Reporting to the General Manager of Financial Services, this position is responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing general accounting, cash management, investments, accounts payable, expense management, and reception functions within the Financial Services department.

The City of Camrose recently implemented a new financial software solution (UNIT4 ERPx) and the successful candidate will have a key role in continuing the identification and implementation of improvements that can be made to current processes / routines, completing testing and contributing to the continuous improvement of the solution.

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES: (but not limited to):
- Provide leadership, oversight and direction related to General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Investments, Cash Management, Expense Management and Customer Service (including Reception).
- Provide operational administration and functional support for UNIT4 ERPx, including user access and security, system integrations, and the identification, testing, and implementation of system enhancement.
- Provide effective leadership by fostering a positive, accountable, and collaborative team culture, while supporting employee development and performance.
- Coordinate and support the annual financial audit, including preparation of reconciliations, responding to auditor inquiries, and providing supporting schedules such as trial balances and detailed general ledger reports.
- Coordinate and review monthly GST returns as well as annual review of fees and charges to ensure ongoing compliance with CRA requirements.
- Manage CRA online access for staff and ensure efficient processing of related transactions.
- Perform additional related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or working towards obtaining this designation.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with respect to accounting in a business or municipal environment.
- Experience with enterprise financial systems and system administration is preferred; experience with UNIT4 is considered an asset.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills (oral and written).
- Strong computer skills using financial systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to evaluate, investigate, and interpret financial and operational data.
- Excellent customer service skills, including experience managing difficult situations.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work are typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Firefighters are responsible for protecting the public from the dangers of fire and other hazards. They control and extinguish fires, respond to medical calls, vehicle extrications, maintain equipment and practice fire
prevention.

FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, including fires, medical emergencies, and rescues.
- Operate firefighting equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform fire suppression activities including hose line operations, ventilation, and salvage.
- Conduct search and rescue operations as needed.
- Provide medical assistance and support until advanced medical personnel arrive.
- Participate in training sessions and drills to maintain skills and stay updated on firefighting techniques and protocols.
- Maintain and clean firefighting equipment an apparatus.
- Assist with community outreach programs and fire education initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age and a Canadian Citizen or a legal permanent resident.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- Grade 12 Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Physical fitness with the ability to pass a medical examination acceptable for the position of Firefighter.
- Standard first aid and CPR-Level C.
- Have a strong desire to serve the community and strong work ethic.
- Must reside within a 6-kilometer radius of the Camrose Fire station.
- Successful candidates will be required to produce a satisfactory Driver's Abstract and Police Information Check.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work for this position will vary depending on emergencies, and can include daytime, evening, night, and/or weekends, with the expectation to attend Tuesday night training sessions from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The City of Camrose is looking for a dynamic, proven leader to fill the role of General Manager, Financial Services. As the General Manager, you will be part of the senior management team, providing leadership and support to the Financial Services department in the context of strategic direction, corporate priorities, financial resources, human resources and governing legislation. FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):
- Provide positive and professional leadership to staff in Financial Services, ensuring that the work units are well managed to support the City's strategies and initiatives.
- Provide input to the City Manager and Elected Officials on financial strategy, budgeting, and corporate planning matters.
- Develop and maintain a user-friendly financial information system that provides accurate, reliable and timely data for decision making.
- Develop and maintain an effective system of internal controls to safeguard assets.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate investment and debt management strategy and policy.
- Function as the chief banking officer and signing authority and oversee long term borrowings and investments.
- Ensure effective, efficient and equitable management and stewardship of financial resources (capital and operating budgets), human resources and assets allocated to the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) required.
- Ten (10) or more years of senior leadership experience in a related position.
- Proven ability to provide leadership and focus.
- Thorough knowledge of the organization and function of a local government.
- Completion or enrolment in the Local Government Certificate Program an asset.
- Experience with project management / change management is considered an asset.
- Experience with enterprise financial systems and system administration is preferred; experience with UNIT4 is considered an asset.
- Experience with ERP system optimization / post-implementation support is considered an asset.
- Experience in working with elected officials, boards and internal and external stakeholders.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work are generally 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Management duties will require work outside of the core hours as part of this role.

Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals is looking for EXPERIENCED Red Seal/Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technicians for safety-sensitive positions to add to our growing team. This HET will work a 7/7rotation (Wednesday to Tuesday) based out of our Camrose Shop that is motivated, committed and wants to grow with us.

Technicians in our Central Region will earn a base rate of $46.03 - 48.45/hour. In a regularly schedule rotation (7/7) the tech will work 168 hours. 80 of those hours are paid at regular time, and 88 are paid at overtime.

+ Additional Compensation: Matching RRSPs, Vacation Pay, General Holiday Pay, Sick Time, Allowances (boot & tool), Bonus Structure and Group Benefits (life, critical illness & disability insurance, dental, extended health, vision).

The Job
- Check dozers, haul trucks, excavators and other heavy construction and mining equipment for proper performance of all major brands (CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi)
- Inspect equipment for defects and malfunctions
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
- Repair and replace defective parts, components and/or systems
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and that it meets or exceeds manufacturer's specifications

What We Need From YOU:

- A minimum of 3 years experience working with large construction and open pit mining equipment
- MUST include in depth experience with CAT, Komatsu, John Deere and Hitachi
- Excellent troubleshooting and technical skills

- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A complete set of mechanics tools up to 3/4" drive
- Ability to lift and manage 50 pounds without assistance
- MUST be able to complete a Respirator Fit test and don a mask at any time while at work, which also means compliance with facial hair requirements to ensure a complete seal for the mask
